Sophie Brodie

In 2010, I was privileged to stand as the Conservative Party candidate for Doncaster North against Ed Miliband. While Labour retained the seat (with a reduced majority), our campaign succeeded in highlighting critical national and local issues and gave a voice to many who wanted to see real change in the way the country was governed.

As well as attempting to address such issues and individual constituent needs, I set out a vision for Doncaster which sought to exploit its attributes to attract much-needed investment and jobs. Some of this proposal reflected my broader thinking about the social, economic and political future of the nation as a whole.

This website seeks to develop those ideas further and focuses on a range of policy issues from the economic development of deprived areas to the improvement of schools. It also aims to raise awareness of electoral and other campaigns in the UK and abroad. I hope you find it of interest and will get involved in the debate.

Women2Win's 5th anniversary

Sophie Brodie at the Women2Win event

Went to Women2Win's 5th anniversary which included a panel session of Conservative MPs on how to increase female representation in Parliament. Unlike other professions such as the law or medicine, politics has failed to attract the sort of talented women it needs in large numbers. Women2Win is doing sterling work in trying to change this, encouraging women from all walks of life to make their voices heard.
